Over the next two weeks we are going to fully explore what it takes to write a proper movie review, just like the critics do!
The objective of this unit is that you will learn to:
1. Analyze a narrative story structure
2. Identify terms and concepts that serve the basis for movie reviews
3. Synthesize literary/visual concepts into a structured essay
Monday:
Handout: How to Write a Good Review
Today we will go over what it takes to write a good review. What elements go into writing a good review.

Homework (Movie Review) Look up a movie "review" on a movie of your choice and print it out. Highlight the substance in the review that you believe represents the content areas specified in the assignment handout. Due Tuesday at beginning of the hour
Tuesday:
Handout: How to Watch for a Good Review or Critique
Today we are going to explore 'how' to watch a movie; what to watch for in the following areas to develop your 'opinion':
actors; cinematography; sound effects; director; story development

Wednesday:
Today we will pull out the Movie Review Homework Assignments and take turns reading excerpts that you highlighted in the categories specified. Together we will discuss why or why not the excerpt fulfills the criteria.

Thursday and Friday: In class assignment
Over the next two day, you are to read over the (2) Movie Reviews for the block buster film, Inception. Follow directions in the assignment packet and fill in all the information requested. You may use your cell phones; classroom computers; or the classroom dictionary to look up definitions. DUE AT THE END OF THE DAY ON FRIDAY
