BECOME A CRITIC CONT'D

The objective of this unit is that you will learn to:
1. Analyze a narrative story structure
2. Identify terms and concepts that serve the basis for movie reviews
3. Synthesize literary/visual concepts into a structured essay

Monday: Adjectives (good, bad, neutral)

Today we will view specific movie reviews - you are to watch each review and write down 'adjectives' (good, bad, neutral) that the critic uses during his/her monologue. We will take time in-between each viewing to share notes. Turn in your notes for credit before leaving.

-Large group discussion
-Individual work

Tuesday:

Today we will be viewing several Movie Reviews available on the internet. The objective is to watch and listen to how the critiques develop and word their opinions on all the aspects of the movie. We will pause and reflect/discuss after each area is covered in the video.

Wednesday:

Friday: Movie Review Rubric - The Reveal

Today I will announce the movie we will be watching next week. You will receive the rubric for your upcoming Movie Review and together, we will go over the criteria.

Handout: Movie Review Prep Homework: Over the weekend you will be required to look up some facts about the Movie we will be viewing for your Movie Review Project.

NOTE: If you are absent today, a link to the homework criteria as well as the Movie Review Rubric will be available here, online, by the end of the school day, Friday, September 20, 2012.
