Basic Shooting (Benchmark: Production Practices)

Tuesday: Course Syllabus and Class Rules

Students will receive a copy of the course syllabus and class rules. We will go over all the content together - questions are welcomed.


Wednesday:
Video Basics I

Students will watch Segments I and 2 on Video Basics (Videomaker/Basic Shooting-The Essential Guide to Basic Camcorder Techniques) After the video, the class will break out into small groups to discuss the content and answer the following questions:

Video Basics I Questions

1. Which format produces a higher picture quality of the tow that were mentioned in the video?

2. Describe the best way to set the focus when you switch the cameral settings to 'manual' mode?

3. Explain the reason why you want a headphone jack on your Camcorder.



Thursday: Video Basics II

Students will watch Segments 3 and 4 on Video Basics (Videomaker/Basic Shooting-The Essential Guide to Basic Camcorder Techniques). After the video, the class will break out into small groups to discuss the content and answer the questions below:

Video Basics II Questions

1. Explain why, when outdoors, you want to have the sun behind the camera?

2. Describe a few things that you can adjust in an indoor setting to enhance the lighting situation.

3. Which of the two (built in or off camera) microphones has more limitations? Why?



Friday: Video Basics III

Students will watch Segments 5 and 6 on Video Basics (Videomaker/Basic Shooting-The Essential Guide to Basic Camcorder Techniques). After the video, the class will break out into small groups to discuss the content and answer the questions below:
